I thank the Lord for finding a way to introduce me to this beautiful gathering where my spirit found a home. An Indian couple in the apartment building I lived in started saying hello to me. They were friendly so I would speak to them and exchange niceties. One day they asked me if I would like to join them in their church. They explained that they went to an International Christian church. I was shocked, since I assumed that most Indians were Hindus. Anyway, I agreed and I tagged along and visited the church. What a blessing it was. So, I kept going to the church and decided to make it my home church. Pastor took me under his wings and really became my dad. I felt free to let him know if I had any problem and to ask for prayers. One great burden in my heart was a husband. I really wanted to settle down and have a family. I was 29 at the time, and I felt I was getting late for marriage. So, one evening after work, I went to visit pastor and his wife at his home where we spoke and had bible study as we broke bread. The date was 12-16-2010. I know that because on that day he gave me a small Bible as a gift. We prayed and as he gave me the Bible as a gift he asked me to pick a prayer card that we usually picked in the new years’ service which I did.  The verse I picked was Isaiah 30:20, 21 “And though the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, Yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, But your eyes shall see your teachers. Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it, “Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.”

The pastor then proceeded to tell me that as he gave me the Bible that by this time next year you shall be married. I just held on to that with faith. I had no idea how this would work, but I said let God’s will be done. At the all-night prayer meeting another brother told me that he has been praying for me and God has given me a husband. At the end of the service I met sis Caroline and she told me the same thing, God has answered your prayers. I said wow God you are awesome. 2011 began and proceeded well and in June 2011 I was introduced to my husband by a longtime friend. He is a Kenyan like I am and my friend was from Congo. We have reviewed all the Kenyans I knew and all the Kenyans he knew and associated with, we did not have one friend in common apart from this Congolese friend of ours. Sure, enough by the end of the year I was married. We were blessed with a baby girl shortly thereafter.

Pastor kept in touch and I started my masters immediately my daughter was born. I was frustrated at work, but knew at least I need to keep pursuing my education things will get better. I spoke to pastor on my way to and from work and we would pray together. When my daughter was still a few months old Pastor told me, Grace God will bless you with a baby boy. I said amen. My daughter was still small so I thought in due time God will give is a baby.

Fast forward 4 and a half years later, we had been trying to have a second baby and we could not get pregnant. I and my husband went to a fertility clinic to test us and find if there was anything wrong. At the time, I had resigned from my job and was looking for work. I was interviewing a lot but not really getting any break through with employment. We went through rigorous testing and the doctors could not find anything wrong with my husband and I. They decided to try and help us get pregnant. We did 3 treatment cycles and every time I would not get pregnant. The next step was to go through IVF treatment. My husband said I will not do IVF, the God who gave us the first baby without trying will give us a second. I was frustrated since nothing seemed to work career wise or getting a baby, I just wanted one thing to work at my own time. But God’s timing is the best.

My husband asked me, Grace you know what let’s go to service in Burlington church and be prayed over. So, the next Sunday we went to church. At the end of the service he prayed that if anyone needs a job God will provide and my husband held my hand believing that it will be done for me. Later after the service he prayed over me and my husband and thanked God for our 2 children. Jason Pastor’s son thought I was pregnant, I said infact I was not. So, after that Sunday things changed, suddenly I got an interview which after 3 weeks I got a job offer as a Software Engineer, I really thanked God and I called the pastor immediately just so happy, knowing that I felt all doors were shut and at last he had opened a door.
I started work in June and 3 months later I found I was expectant. When I went to the doctor, she said she simply cannot understand how I had such difficulty conceiving and here I was pregnant naturally. It is truly a miracle. And sure, enough when it came time to figure out, we found out we were having a boy, just what the pastor had told me 4 years prior.
I continue seeing God work in our lives and know that he is truly the same yesterday, today and forever. All glory goes to God.
Thank you Pastor for your service, may God give you and your family strength and good will. You are a great blessing in our family.
