Job Description
Looking for a positive and energetic individual to be a one-on-one mentor, coach, teacher / PCA for a 27-year-old non-verbal man with Autism.
Michael is looking for a patient and kind individual to build a trusting relationship with. You will act as a caregiver, job coach and academic assistant when attending classes. You will work with Michael day to day to complete daily living activities and also assist him in academic and leisure activities. Michael works at our family business assisting in the warehouse and the office. Michael also volunteers at a farm once a week, feeding the animals and tending the gardens. Michael uses an iPad to communicate but only with assistance from a trusted person. Once this relationship is built Michael is the kindest individual with a hint of sarcasm. Michael needs reminders for self-care such as using the bathroom. Bathroom breaks every hour are best. Michael enjoys going for walks, going to the gym and completing exercise circuits. Michael thrives on a structured routine, including daily occupational exercises, physical activity, mixed in with activities such as book reading and listening to TED talks which stimulate the learning that Michael enjoys. When he is moving or learning, his mind is busy, and he is at his best! Ongoing training will be provided by Michael’s support team.
Hours: Monday-Friday from 9:30am-3:30pm
Job Duties:
· Create a daily schedule to support Michael and his learning.
· Help Michael access course work when taking classes.
· Assist in following class syllabus.
· Provide a structured environment.
· Assist in Occupational Therapy exercises.
· Assist at the farm.
· Assist with hygiene and personal care.
Requirements:
· Experience working with individuals with Autism
· A car
· Good driving record
· Current Federal & State Clearances
· Positive attitude

Job Type: Full-time: Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
