Job Description

Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Hayward, California. This leadership role will focus on managing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and driving efficiency across various accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in financial oversight, team management, and compliance within the healthcare or non-profit sectors. Responsibilities: - Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard revenue, expenses, and program budgets. - Ensure compliance with government regulations and manage contracts effectively. - Lead, develop, and mentor a team of five or more staff members, fostering collaboration and cross-training. - Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance organizational efficiency. - Supervise accurate and timely submission of tax filings, including 990, 5500, W-2s, and other required documents. - Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger operations to ensure smooth financial processes. - Manage organizational cash flow and provide recommendations for fund transfers to meet operational needs. - Review reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reports for accuracy and compliance. - Coordinate annual cost report preparation and ensure adherence to funding agreements and contracts. - Facilitate monthly budget meetings with program managers to monitor financial performance and guide cost management. Requirements - Minimum of 15 years of experience in financial management, preferably within the healthcare or non-profit sectors. - Proficiency in fund accounting and familiarity with government grant processes. - Expertise in software such as Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT and Intacct. - Strong knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements at local, state, and federal levels. - Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams, promoting collaboration and skill-building. - Experience managing audits and ensuring readiness through accurate documentation. - Exceptional organizational skills, including document control, scanning, and compiling. - Proven ability to oversee financial operations and drive process improvements.
