Job Description DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Customer Service & Sales - Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with fast, friendly service.
- Assist customers by making product suggestions.
- Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via:
- Telephone
- In-store intercom announcements
- One-on-one customer interaction
- Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately; resolve customer complaints and escalate to Store Director as needed.
Merchandising & Display - Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
- Ensure merchandise is correctly priced and displayed; maintain clean and properly organized shelves.
- Enforce proper code dating for all products within the department.
- Rotate and discard outdated or spoiled products; maintain cleanliness of work area and department.
Inventory Control & Stocking - Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness; maintain inventory levels per division directives.
- Stock and rotate product to maintain freshness.
- May assist in other areas of the Grocery Department as needed.
- May assist with physical inventory every 6 months.
- Control shrink and costs through proper handling and processes.
Receiving & Back Room Operations - Perform receiving duties:
- Break down loads and verify orders using invoices.
- Inspect product quality; report shortages.
- Stock and rotate product per guidelines.
- Adhere to product temperature and storage requirements; follow proper packaging techniques.
- Supervise processing of reclamation and maintain orderly, in-stock conditions in the back room and all Dairy Department areas.
Product Preparation & Equipment - Implement correct product preparation techniques.
- Safely use and operate department equipment and tools, including:
- Pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, safety cutters
- Sterilox machine (or similar sanitizing equipment)
Compliance & Regulatory Requirements - Ensure compliance with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, Company policies, and code-dating standards.
- Maintain working knowledge of Company policies and guidelines (per the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook).
- Follow and maintain all departmental standards and requirements.
Safety, Cleanliness & Sanitation - Comply with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
- Ensure safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of:
- Work area and display area
- Cooler and equipment
- Code date compliance as required
- Implement emergency procedures in the event of equipment or computer software malfunctions.
Systems & Ordering - Operate computer software and electronic ordering devices to order product and manage workflow.
Administrative & Recordkeeping - Process administrative paperwork; maintain accurate department records.
- Accurately complete, maintain, and monitor:
- Daily log sheets
- Sales and labor reports
- Other required paperwork and logs
Professional Standards - Comply with and ensure compliance with Company grooming standards and dress code.
- Perform all job duties with honesty and integrity.
About the Team Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay*, PTO/Vacation pay*, paid holidays*, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis.
*For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.
