Preferred Qualifications Six months of experience working or interning at a university press, book publisher, or nonprofit preferred Position Summary The Editorial Assistant is an energetic and highly organized individual who provides editorial and clerical support for the UGA Press acquisitions editorial unit. Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities Under the direction of the Editor-in-Chief, provides administrative and editorial support for multiple acquiring editors, including: Facilitating peer reviews Sending proposals and manuscripts for external review Communicating with authors, readers, artists, and photographers Helping to prepare launch forms, early decision memos, board reports, P&Ls, and contract requests Maintaining and updating database records and project files Acting as the point person for Biblio queries Percentage of time 70 Duties/Responsibilities Assists authors in preparing their final manuscripts, assessing manuscript submissions, and transmitting titles into production. Fields transmittal questions about digital art, formatting, rights, etc. Clears and maintains inventories of illustrated projects Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities Works closely with colleagues on managing Acquisitions program, including coordinating editorial board meetings.
