Established in 1961, MVCC is a premier 18-hole private club featuring top-tier amenities, including a scenic golf course, driving range, dedicated short game practice facility, and pool. Our meticulously maintained course boasts bentgrass/poa greens and Latitude-36 Bermudagrass tees and fairways, offering an exceptional playing experience.

Club Highlights:

  • New maintenance facility and aquatic center. 
• Maintenance budget: $2.1 Million with a $400,000 capital budget
• Typical work schedule: (Hours can vary)
  • In-Season: M-F, 5:30am - 3 or 4pm with every other weekend on
  • Off-Season: M-F, 5:30am-2:30pm with every 3rd weekend on
• Grass Types: 
  • Greens: Bentgrass/POA
  • Tees and Fairways - Bermudagrass
• Equipment type: New John Deere lease package in June 2025
• Irrigation System: Rainbird 
• Staff size: 18 full-time employees
• Annual rounds: Approximately 36,000

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists in planning and supervision of day-to-day and long-range goals.
• Supervises and trains crews in the correct and safe usage of equipment and materials used in day-today operations.
• Assists in assigning daily tasks to golf course maintenance staff.
• Supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of the irrigation system to include the pumping station, controllers, pipes, and draining systems.
• Applies Pesticides and maintains records of pest application, fertilizer applications, topdressing applications, daily assignment logs.
• Assists in hiring staff.
• Maintains quality control in golf course maintenance staff’s daily duties.
• Participates on a daily basis with water management and irrigation set up.
• Attends daily golf course maintenance staff meetings.
• Maintains proficiency in trends in the field by attending local and national conferences.
• Attends monthly Greens Committee Meeting, with opportunities to present on topics
• Other duties as requested.

​Position Requirements:

• 2-or 4-year degree in Agronomy, Turfgrass Management or related field
• Minimum of 4-years of progressive golf course experience
• 3+ years of management experience

Compensation & Benefits:

• $85,000 - $100,000, depending on experience

About Us:

Mount Vernon Country Club is situated on one of George Washington’s original seven farms.Golf Course Architect Russell Roberts designed the nine-hole golf course which opened on June 3, 1961. On June 10, 1961, an exhibition match was played by Head Pro Dick Mason, Sam Snead, and two local professionals Bobby Bowers and Al Jamison, where Sam Snead shot 67.In 1963 the members purchased Mount Vernon Country Club and renamed it Woodlawn Country Club. Golf Course Architect Ed Ault designed the second nine holes which opened in 1968. In 1993 Woodlawn Country Club again became Mount Vernon Country Club.

Over the past twenty years, the Club has continued to develop, including significant improvements to the golf course, which were designed by Golf Course Architect Bill Love. in 2014 the Clubhouse underwent an interior renovation, and in 2016 significant improvements were made to the golf course. In 2021, the club hired Joel Weiman as its new Golf Course Architect, resulting in renovation of the tee complexes, renovation of holes 1 and 9, and the construction of a new practice facility over the past two years.
