Genetic Counselor Oncology

📍 Illinois | 🕒 Day Shift, 5x8hr Shifts | No Weekends

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Oncology Genetic Counselor to join our multidisciplinary care team. In this role, you will provide expert counseling to patients with active cancer, a history of cancer, hereditary syndromes, or a family history of inherited cancer syndromes. Youll play a vital role in empowering patients and families with knowledge, guidance, and testing to inform their healthcare decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide genetic counseling to patients and families with active cancer, prior cancer diagnoses, or genetic risk factors.
• Assess patients with family histories of inherited cancer syndromes and recommend appropriate genetic testing.
• Conduct and interpret genetic testing for inherited cancer risk , including buccal swabs.
• Deliver results and risk assessments to patients via telehealth and in-person visits .
• Manage an average caseload of ~11 new patients per week , along with follow-up result disclosures.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and utilize interpretation services for patient care.

Qualifications

• ABGC Board Certification in Genetic Counseling (required)
• Illinois Genetic Counselor license (required)
• At least 2 years of oncology genetic counseling experience
• Proficiency with Epic (preferred)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care

Schedule & Work Environment

• Day shift : 5x8hr shifts per week
• No weekend requirements
• Mix of telehealth and in-person visits
• Supportive interdisciplinary team environment
