Job Description

Grants Manager – UNC School of Nursing Position Summary As the Grants and Research Compliance Manager, you will coordinate the accounting and personnel work of the Grants Management Office at the School of Nursing. You will prepare complex financial reports, reconcile a variety of accounts—including federal contracts, grants, and external subcontracts—and manage research compliance and post‑award auditing. You will serve as the primary compliance contact for Principal Investigators, advising and guiding them from award initiation through the life of the grant, ensuring adherence to university and funding agency guidelines. Responsibilities Prepare and reconcile financial reports for federal contracts, grants, and subcontracts. Coordinate accounting and personnel responsibilities within the Grants Management Office. Audit post‑award grants for research compliance and assist with tracking. Act as primary compliance contact for Principal Investigators, providing guidance on federal regulations, university policies, and funding agency guidelines. Design and deliver analytical reports on current status, funding, expenditures, and projections to investigators and project managers. Maintain independent daily routines, schedule, and effective communication with faculty, project managers, and executive staff. Qualifications Entry‑level with a Master’s degree; or Bachelor’s degree and 0‑2 years of experience. Substantial knowledge of accounting principles and experience with computer‑based financial spreadsheets and databases. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and supervisory skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities; strong Excel proficiency. Ability to understand, interpret, and apply rules and regulations governing fiscal document processing. Attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks and shift priorities quickly. Preferred: prior experience in grants administration and/or finance. Location: North Carolina, United States Commute is required in accordance with UNC policy.
