Hours per week: 40 Position Location: North Carolina, US Hiring Range: $57,960-69,730 Proposed Start Date: 12/01/2025 Position Summary This position offers a 100% remote work arrangement, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. Please note that work location arrangements are subject to change based on organizational needs, policy updates, or other operational considerations. This role serves as the Grants and Research Compliance Manager, coordinating the accounting and personnel work of the Grants Management Office for the School of Nursing. It works alongside another Grants Manager. The incumbent is responsible for preparing difficult and complex financial reports, reconciling a variety of accounts, federal contracts and grants, as well as external university subcontracts and subcontract arrangements with non‑academic businesses. Additionally, the position is responsible for research compliance and auditing post‑award grants. The individual is the primary research compliance contact for Principal Investigators, advising investigators from the initiation of a grant award through the entire life of the project. Guidance includes proper procedures, guidelines from the University and funding agencies, and regulations covering federal guidelines, foundation guidelines, cost accounting standards, student tuition costs, health insurance, stipend requirements, and other University policies. Upon grant funding, the manager designs analytical reports to provide Principal Investigators and project managers with current status, expenditure details, and projections of future expenditures. The manager operates independently and manages their own daily routine and schedule, meeting with faculty, project managers, and Dean as needed to assist with all phases of the post‑award grant process. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Entry‑level with a Master’s degree; or Bachelor's with 0‑2 years of experience. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
  • Substantial knowledge of accounting principles and experience with computer‑based financial spreadsheets and databases.
  • Ability to work independently and supervise others.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply rules and regulations governing the processing of fiscal documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and high attention to detail.
  • Experience with budget analysis, forecasting, account reconciliation, and report preparation.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Prior experience in grants administration and/or finance.
