Now Hiring: Greenhouse Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Greenhouse Technician responsible for daily plant care, including seeding, pollinating, transplanting, watering, harvesting, and seed handling for corn, soybean, wheat, and other crops. This role involves handling and storing plant tissue samples for laboratory analysis, ensuring accurate sample identity and maintaining proper storage conditions. The technician will also assist with experiments, data collection, and record maintenance, alongside performing routine greenhouse sanitation tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily plant care, including seeding, pollinating, transplanting, watering, and harvesting.
• Handle and store plant tissue samples for laboratory analysis, ensuring accurate sample identity.
• Assist with experiments, collect data, and maintain records.
• Perform routine sanitation tasks such as discarding regulated material, cleaning pots, and sanitizing rooms.

Essential Skills

• Experience in greenhouse, agriculture, botany, and horticulture.
• Knowledge of plant care, agronomy, and plant maintenance.
• Proficiency in biology, plant genetics, life science, biochemistry, and biotechnology.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred qualifications include an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Plant Genetics, or Agronomy.

Work Environment

This position involves working in a controlled greenhouse environment, typically maintained at 80 degrees and humid. Technicians must be able to stand and sit for long periods and lift up to 30 lbs. The role requires tolerance for repetitive tasks in warm, humid conditions with pollen present year-round. The work shift is from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with rotational weekend work approximately every 6th weekend.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
