Industrial Design Intern [starting in April]

Founded by Yves Behar in 1999, fuseproject has a long track record of design and innovation leadership. Headquartered in San Francisco, with teams in Frankfurt and Lisbon, our team of designers, strategists, technologists, and program managers delivers design at scale globally. We work across a wide array of industries, including technology, furniture, fashion, environmental design, and consumer goods.

Our disciplines include design strategy, industrial design, branding, packaging, experience design (UI/UX), and environmental design. We serve both corporate clients and startups, including Herman Miller, Samsung, L’Oreal, PayPal, Happiest Baby, Cionic, Telo, and many more.

Our San Francisco office is currently seeking a talented in-person Industrial Design Intern who possesses outstanding skills in sketching, form/detail development, and CAD modeling/rendering. Candidates should have a strong desire to work on a wide range of products in a creative, multi-disciplinary collaborative studio. Industrial Designers at our firm gain a deep understanding of technology, materials, and manufacturing methods to enhance the design and usability of various items.

Duties / Responsibilities:

• Supporting all areas of the design agency with specific tasks including document layout and production, research (with image gathering), preparation for presentations.
• Assisting with the general needs of the industrial design department.
• Providing backup to all levels of designers (from junior designer to creative director).
• Developing and seeing through design from concept to final deliverables.
• Working with entire industrial design staff on projects.
• Seeking out feedback.

Required Skills / Experience:

• Senior level industrial design student or recent graduate
• Excellent at hand sketching, model making and functional mock-ups
• Working knowledge of 3D software (such as Alias, Solidworks or Rhino)
• Working knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop
• Willingness to take direction and learn from others
• Great positive attitude with an emphasis on self-motivation and a high quality of work
• Multilingual skills are welcome
