Description & Details: The Department of Sociology and Anthropology seeks a Cultural Anthropology Lecturer to begin in Fall 2026. We seek a cultural anthropologist who is ethnographically grounded, works in the area of medical anthropology, and can support the teaching goals of the Anthropology Program and department more generally. The successful candidate will be required to teach seven classes a year (4/3 teaching load) with advising responsibilities. This would break down to 80% teaching and 20% advising and engaged learning.

In addition, the position will require the Lecturer to support engaged learning and advising. Specifically, the successful candidate will help administer the experiential learning requirement that is part of the major's required coursework. In addition, they will advise undergraduate students (generally assigned 5-8 students). In addition, the candidate must work effectively with colleagues and students in an interdisciplinary setting.

Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.

Minimum Qualifications: The successful candidate must have:

- MA in Anthropology or related field in hand, by the start of the appointment;

- Demonstrable record of effective teaching experience at the university level;

- An ability to teach:

-- Introduction to Cultural Anthropology (ANTH 206)

-- Introduction to Anthropology (ANTH 111)

-- Medical Anthropology (ANTH 332)

-- Ethnographic Methods (ANTH 481)

-- Dev. of Anthropological Theory (ANTH 480)

-- Field Experience (ANTH 496)

-- Topical Upper Division Classes

- Excellent oral and written communication skills;

- Effective interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

- PhD in Anthropology;

- Have engaged in applied anthropological research and has the ability to collaborate with departments across campus to support engaged undergraduate research;

- Ability to advise undergraduate students.
