POSITION FUNCTION/OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for assisting the counselors and therapeutic team by giving support services to patients or patients who are suffering from substance abuse or mental irregularities.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote the mission, values and vision of the organization.
- Provide excellent customer service for patients; practices confidentiality and privacy protocols in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
- Function as a dynamic part of the team who offers continuous patient care, interaction and role modeling for individuals that have problems regarding their mental health or have substance abuse issues.
- Document relevant information regarding the patient’s behavior and activities with the EMR system. Utilize email when necessary to notify the clinical and leadership team.
- Provide a safe, supportive environment for all patients served.
- Complete intake and discharge processes. Including but not limited to: collection of UA’s, Breathalyzer, Bag/Vehicle searches, Room Searches, logging personal valuables, etc.
- Attend mandatory meetings held by the leadership team.
- Collect and log UA’s, when deemed necessary. Step down, discharges, intakes, etc.
- Keep all refrigerator logs updated as in accordance with the Florida Health Department.
- Update patient fund sheets to reflect available balances. Log and track any purchases made per patient requests.
- Complete all required trainings required by DCF/Joint Commission, as instructed by HR.
- Participate in the task of maintaining patient residences and common areas. Included but not limited to cleaning, changing linens, patient laundry, etc.
- Ensure safe storage of all patients’ valuables and hygiene products.
- Safely escort patients to clinical, medical, and scheduled activities.
- Observation of Meal Monitoring when ordered by a medical team.
- Ensure the safety of the patient, completing ordered rounds.
- Stock all foods and snacks for patients to access in kitchen areas.
- Organize safe transportation with immediate supervision for any patients discharging home or to aftercare facilities.
- Participate in crisis intervention situations, AMA/ACA Blocking, Admin DC’s, Behavioral Concerns, Etc.
- Complete incident reports when indicated, ensuring emergency contacts are appropriately notified.
- Ensure the abstinence/sobriety of all patients under treatment and immediately report any use of alcohol or drugs witnessed or suspected.
- Maintain the utmost level of professionalism with patients at all times, refraining from any personal conversations or relations.
- Maintains established Company policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with combination of education and work experience, required; Associates Degree, CNA or BHT Certification, preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in the behavioral healthcare industry, preferred.
- Knowledge of substance abuse/chemical dependency treatment levels of care; Substance Abuse Treatment.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
- Ability to work flexible schedules and shifts, required.
- Relevant computer software and hardware applications proficiency – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Electronic Medical Records, Billing Systems and/or other scheduling applications; KIPU preferred.
SKILLS:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Manage multiple tasks; ability to work accurately, with attention to detail.
- Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
