Department: Business Development – Production Support Group (PSG)

Job Summary

The principal role of the Production Support Group is to assist the organization in Business Development activities.

As a member of the Production Support Group, the New Business Broker takes a lead role in the marketing of new business opportunities, the creation of Conner Strong & Buckelew business development presentations including our Consultative Review (CSCR), new business Insurance Proposals, formal Requests for Proposal/Qualifications and Capabilities Presentations.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of an Insured’s or Prospect’s business operations, inherent exposures and the insurance coverage necessary to best protect the assets of the corporation and the owners of the business.
  • Review and analyze insurance policies to identify coverage deficiencies in relation to the exposures present in a Prospect’s business.
  • Manage the creation of customized Conner Strong & Buckelew Consultative Reviews.
  • Prepare customized Coverage Summaries for new prospective customers.
  • Analyze loss information for marketing purposes and program design.
  • Provide assistance and input into developing the appropriate program design for our clients, (e.g. Guaranteed Cost, Loss Sensitive, Captive, etc.).
  • Negotiates Premium, Terms and Conditions with Insurance Carriers.
  • Finalize New Business Proposals.
  • Bind coverage on behalf of new customers.
  • Prepare documents required to transition accounts to service team. Menor teammates and coworkers
  • Review and analyze insurance indemnification sections of business contracts.
  • Assist the Business Development personnel in gathering and compiling the necessary information required for a comprehensive review / underwriting submission.

Other Functions

  • Attend new business and prospect presentations when required.
  • Attend carrier capabilities meetings and other functions.
  • Remain current on industry changes, technical and industry specific developments such as market conditions and carrier appetites that could affect customer service.
  • Maintain Prospect files in accordance with company standards.
  • Participates in Marketing Strategy meetings with Producers and team members.
  • Attends various internal and external meetings as required.
  • Participate on various committees / projects assigned.
  • Available as a technical resource for other Conner Strong & Buckelew team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • 10+ years’ minimum of Commercial Property & Casualty Brokerage experience.
  • Self-starter, flexible and able to multi-task with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Knowledge of Document Management System (WorkSmart) preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team environment but function independently.
  • Ability to develop and manage key relationships at all levels within Conner Strong organization along with outside Clients and Carriers.
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without Company sponsorship.

Specialized Knowledge or Licenses

Property & Casualty Producer License

ARM, CIC, CPCU and other specialized designations as appropriate.

Working Conditions

Able to work flexible hours and travel to other Conner Strong & Buckelew buildings and client work sites on a regular basis
