Porter/Custodial Worker
MONDAY-FRIDAY
10AM - 6:30PM
Statement of General Purpose
The Porter/Custodial Worker is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the buildings and grounds of the Community Center.
Examples of Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Cleans, paints, and maintains buildings and grounds throughout the Community Center property.
Cleans bathrooms, floors, windows, sidewalks, walls, etc.
Removes ice and snow from Center sidewalks and walkways.
Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs to Center buildings and equipment.
Collects, stores, and removes trash, garbage, and refuse; replaces light bulbs; cleans or replaces HVAC and other filters; bleeds down feed-water valves; etc.
Conducts regular inspections of buildings and grounds, and reports any unsafe or unsanitary conditions to Center management.
Paints, varnishes, finishes, waterproofs, and performs similar functions for Center property.
Performs related work as required.
Core Competencies
Familiarity with the maintenance of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems.
Ability to perform cleaning, painting, waxing, disinfecting, and other custodial tasks.
Ability to use hand and power tools and cleaning equipment.
Ability to comply with instructions for the use of cleaning materials and chemicals.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or G.E.D., and
Two (2) years experience in building maintenance and custodial work, or
Any equivalent combination of acceptable training, education, and experience.
Other Requirements
This position includes the normal physical demands associated with building maintenance and repair, including lifting, bending, and carrying large, heavy, and unwieldy objects; hazardous materials requiring special use and storage requirements; and travel to other facilities throughout the Philadelphia area.
This position is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
