Job Summary:

Psychiatric Physician Assistants at Mood Treatment Center will be responsible for direct and indirect matters related to the care of patients assigned to them. Treatment includes assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating and evaluating patient care amongst a multi-disciplinary team. Psychiatric Physician Assistants at Mood Treatment Center shall provide psychiatric services to patients of the Mood Treatment Center with the collaboration and/or supervision of the medical director. Psychiatric Physician Assistants at Mood Treatment Center will attend practice meetings and conferences as scheduled by the medical director.

Duties / Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results
• Interview and examine medical patients, review past medical history, medication lists and requests and/or perform diagnostic tests and examinations deemed necessary to obtain all possible information related to each case
• Make preliminary diagnoses, direct or provide treatment or arrange for specialized care or patient referral as required
• Provide medication management as appropriate and evaluate efficacy of medication treatment, adjusting as needed and base decisions upon information obtained, professional medical knowledge and skills and prescribed policies and procedures
• Provide mental health education to patients, healthcare and medical staff
• Provide timely follow up care
• Review prescriptions accurately following Federal and U.S. Public Health Service laws and policies
• Keep up-to-date with professional job knowledge by reading publications, attending educational conferences or maintaining professional networks
• Write and maintain patient and clinical records, including the type of treatment, medication administered and patient response to treatment as required by the supervising board(s)
• Maintain licensing documentation as required by governing board(s)
• Follow ethical and legal policies, procedures and standards
• Adhere to organizational standards, policies, and procedures, in addition to legal regulations
• Complete documentation for patient visits within 24 hours of visit
• Approve and sign charge slips for patient visits ensuring the accuracy of billed services
• Respond to AdvancedMD portal messages, work emails and 3CX chats in a timely manner
• Provide crisis intervention when needed
• Flexibility with on-call coverage
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

• Licensed in the state of North Carolina
• Valid DEA License
