Job Summary: The Reading Interventionist provides targeted instruction to students who are struggling with reading. This role includes assessing students' reading levels, developing intervention plans, and collaborating with teachers, and administrators to enhance students' reading skills within the framework of Catholic education values.
Qualifications: - Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Reading, or a related field.
- Certification: Valid teaching certification in Reading or Literacy. Additional certification in Reading Intervention is a plus.
- Experience: Teaching experience, with demonstrated experience in reading instruction and intervention.
- Skills: Strong understanding of reading assessment tools and intervention strategies. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Faith: Practicing Catholic preferred, with a commitment to the values and teachings of the Catholic Church.
Requirements: - Pass a criminal background check
- Complete the Protecting God's Children (VIRTUS) Program.
Responsibilities: - Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct formal and informal assessments to identify students' reading levels and areas of need and use assessment data to create individualized or small group intervention plans.
- Instruction: Provide direct reading instruction to students, focusing on phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension and utilize a variety of teaching methods and materials to address diverse learning needs.
- Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers to identify students requiring additional reading support and collaborate with teachers to integrate reading intervention strategies into the general education curriculum.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students' progress and intervention plans.
- Faith Integration: Integrate Catholic values and teachings into reading instruction and interactions with students and foster a positive, faith-filled learning environment.
Physical demands while performing duties: - Sit, stand, bend, to maintain close proximity while working with students
- Walk up and down stairs
