Job Description

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Consultant with 5+ years of experience to support a large-scale deconstruction project at a natural gas energy site near Joliet, IL. The consultant will play a critical role in ensuring safety compliance, conducting orientations, and overseeing on-site safety practices during the dismantling and shipment of turbine units.

Project Scope:
This assignment involves the deconstruction of six natural gas-powered peaker plants and will last a total of 8 months.

Responsibilities:

• Lead on-site safety efforts, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations

• Conduct daily safety briefings, site orientations, and toolbox talks

• Monitor subcontractor safety practices and adherence to established protocols

• Perform incident investigations, risk assessments, and root cause analyses

• Maintain safety documentation, reports, and compliance logs

• Collaborate with site leadership to implement continuous safety improvements

• Provide guidance on proper use of equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE)

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of construction or industrial safety experience

• Strong knowledge of LOTO, fall protection, MEWP, PIT, and IPR protocols

• Proven experience managing subcontractor safety and conducting orientations

• Strong computer proficiency for documentation and reporting

• Familiarity with deconstruction or dismantling in heavy industrial environments

• OSHA 30 certification preferred; MEWP, CSP, CHST a plus

Ideal Candidate:

• Hands-on, proactive, and confident in a field-based role

• Able to work independently and manage multiple stakeholders on site

• Strong communicator with a practical understanding of industrial safety

• Must be able to work up to 58 hours a week, 5-10 hour shifts, M-F, and 8 hours on Saturday, hours over 40 are eligible for OT
