Job Description

A full-semester contract position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support K-12 students in a school setting located in Ridgeley, WV. This role requires expertise in sign language interpretation to facilitate effective communication between hearing-impaired students and their teachers, classmates, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and clear sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, school events, and meetings
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure students needs are met
• Assist in the development of communication strategies tailored to individual students requirements
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards
• Support students integration and engagement within the school environment

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and excellent interpreting skills
• Experience working in educational settings, preferably with K-12 students
• Knowledge of deaf culture and communication techniques
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
