A rewarding opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support K-12 students in an educational setting. This contract position offers engagement throughout the current school year, providing vital communication access for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

Location:

• Shippensburg, PA

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate effective communication by interpreting spoken English into sign language and vice versa for students, teachers, and staff.
• Provide clear, accurate, and culturally appropriate interpretation during classroom instruction, meetings, and school activities.
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to enhance the learning environment and support student success.
• Assist in creating an inclusive atmosphere by promoting understanding and awareness of Deaf culture and communication needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while supporting students with diverse abilities.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills.
• Experience in K-12 educational settings is highly preferred.
• Ability to interpret accurately in a variety of academic subjects and social contexts.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to student advocacy and cultural sensitivity.
