SUMMARY: The Special Education and Early Childhood Coordinator provides leadership, oversight, and coordination of special education and early learning services at the building level while supporting district-wide initiatives. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, supports high quality instruction and programming, facilitates collaboration among staff and families, and oversees special education, early learning, outplacement, and extended school year (ESY) services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Early Learning Duties and Responsibilities: - Oversee the Early Interventions (EI) to Early Childhood (EC) transition process which includes the scheduling of transition meetings, reviewing transition paperwork, and assisting the team in defining appropriate evaluation process.
- Assign case managers and roster students who qualify for services.
- Attend screening meetings to assist with placement while maintaining and monitoring the early learning waitlist in accordance with Preschool for All guidelines.
- Facilitate monthly meetings with early learning staff to include review of program updates, data, behavior, and goal setting.
- Assist with budget management for Preschool for All (PFA) and IDEA grants including completing and submitting the GATA reports as required.
- Support and implement Teaching Strategies GOLD, ESGI, and Ready Rosie and prepare the CQIP goals and annual updates required for state reporting.
- Maintain, attend, and support family engagement events including the Parent Advisory Council (PAC).
- Develop, maintain, and update program policy and procedure manuals.
- Serves as LEA representative at Local Interagency Council (LIC) meetings.
Out of District/Private and Parochial School Duties and Responsibilities: - Collaborate with district staff to establish special education caseloads and maintain data on outplaced students.
- Coordinate and collaborate with administration, staff, and parents regarding out-of-district placements, including referrals, tours, intake meetings, student records, and communication.
- Evaluate special education teachers assigned to private and parochial schools.
- Monitor referrals and collaborate with psychologists to determine evaluation needs.
- Coordinate and attend IEP or ISP meetings to support case management.
Extended School Year (ESY) Duties and Responsibilities: - Oversee ESY staffing, including assignment of special education teachers, related service providers, and paraprofessionals according to student needs.
- Assign students and classrooms to according to student needs.
- Prepare and distribute all ESY communications.
- Prepare and manage N2Y/Unique Learning systems access and collaborate with teams on ordering supplies and materials.
District Duties and Responsibilities: - Serve as a liaison between schools, parents, and community service providers.
- Consult with early childhood teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to support students' academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Work with administration to ensure programs comply with federal and state regulations, and district policies.
- Provide professional development activities while staying current with best practices in early education and special education.
- Attend monthly team meetings as required by district administration.
- Conduct classroom and student observations to support behavior management, instructional planning, and problem-solving
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Master's degree preferably in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or related field.
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with General Administrative Endorsement
Early Learning Endorsement preferred
Two years' administrative experience preferred.
Evidence of some Special Education teaching/leadership background.
Valid Driver's License.
This is a 12 month, full time, non-union position wth benefts, and sick, personal and vacation days.
Salary range no less than $85,000
