POSITION OVERVIEW

The Tile Installer at Cancos Tile and Stone is responsible for the expert installation of ceramic, porcelain, glass, and natural stone tiles in residential and commercial settings. This role ensures projects are completed with precision, durability, and aesthetic excellence, contributing to client satisfaction and company reputation. The Tile Installer supports company goals by delivering high-quality installations, maintaining safety standards, and collaborating with other professionals to achieve project objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review project plans, blueprints, and specifications to determine tile layout and installation requirements.
  • Prepare installation surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and applying appropriate underlayment or waterproofing materials.
  • Plan and mark layout lines for tile patterns, ensuring symmetry and alignment according to design specifications.
  • Measure, cut, and shape tiles using manual and power tools (tile cutters, wet saws, nippers) to fit around obstacles and achieve custom designs.
  • Mix and apply adhesives, thin-set mortar, or mastic to secure tiles to floors, walls, ceilings, and countertops.
  • Set tiles in place, ensuring proper spacing, alignment, and leveling for a uniform appearance.
  • Apply grout between tiles, clean excess grout, and finish joints for a polished look.
  • Seal tiles and grout as required to enhance durability and prevent moisture penetration.
  • Repair or replace damaged tiles and grout in existing installations.
  • Perform restoration and maintenance work on tile surfaces, including cleaning, resealing, and regrouting.
  • Inspect completed installations for quality, adherence to specifications, and client satisfaction.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following company safety protocols and using personal protective equipment.
  • Collaborate with other construction professionals, including designers, project managers, and contractors, to achieve project goals.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients regarding project progress, challenges, and solutions.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Tile Installer in residential or commercial construction.
  • Proficiency in installing ceramic, porcelain, glass, and natural stone tiles.
  • Skilled in using tile cutting and shaping tools, including wet saws, tile cutters, and nippers.
  • Knowledge of surface preparation, underlayment, waterproofing, and layout techniques.
  • Familiarity with adhesives, mortars, grouts, and sealants used in tile installation.
  • Ability to interpret project plans, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Physical stamina for manual labor and lifting heavy materials.
  • Commitment to safety and proper use of tools and equipment.
