A truck dispatcher's main responsibility is to coordinate the efficient transportation of freight by managing truck drivers' schedules and routes. They also ensure that freight is picked up and delivered on time and in accordance with regulations.
Other responsibilities of a truck dispatcher include:
Negotiating rates
Truck dispatchers may negotiate rates with clients to improve the company's clientele base and increase revenue.
Handling customer complaints and inquiries
Truck dispatchers are responsible for handling customer complaints and inquiries.
Keeping truckers up to date on road conditions
Truck dispatchers help drivers navigate weather delays by taking charge of driver scheduling.
Communicating with customers, drivers, and other personnel
Truck dispatchers receive calls from drivers, shippers, and brokers, and communicate with customers to provide shipping details and delivery time estimates.
Maintaining records
Truck dispatchers keep records of shipments, drivers, working hours, and schedule details. They also monitor truck drivers' logs to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
