Job Description

Pay Rate Ranges: (based on experience)

Sr. Wind Tech Range: $27-$46/hour

Advanced Wind Tech Range: $24-$41/hour

Location: Windthorst, TX 76389

Duration: 6 months possible TTH

Experience Required:

  • 3-6 years experience as a Wind Technician, but open to more experienced candidates .
  • Must have experience with Siemens 2.3, SGRE (Siemens Gamesa renewable energy) machines and ABB converters and troubleshooting experience.
  • No composite work (not a transferable skill for this role)
  • Will be working on Siemens 2.3 Wind Turbines
  • Must be local to the area or willing to relocate this will be a fully onsite M-F position.

Working conditions:

Senior Wind Technicians spend 100% of their time in the field, excluding safety; supervisor and scheduled training exercises. Senior Wind Technicians work in teams and are provided a company vehicle(service truck) in which they carry the required tools and parts necessary to perform repairs and/or maintenance on turbines. Service Technicians work in extreme weather conditions.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform field maintenances, troubleshooting and repair in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform live electrical work in accordance with industry standard practices.
  • Accurately account for time and materials expended in the performance of the job function.
  • Report for work at the time and location specified.
  • Operate service equipment in a safe manner and maintain records for same.
  • Follow safety regulations and work procedures.
  • Report on work status as directed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed at least 2000 hours of documented service in the wind and/or other related industry.
  • Must have successfully met qualifications for the Advanced Wind Technician and have passed the Senior Wind Technician examination.
  • Skilled in the use of precision measuring devices such as micrometer and dial gages.
  • Familiarity with shimming procedures for gearbox bearings.
  • Have mastery of company paperwork and have a good understanding on how to find and use all necessary documents.
  • Demonstrated safe work habits, to include electrical troubleshooting.
  • Competent in field repair, replacement and installation of turbine components.
  • Must be able to train other technicians in field repair, replacement and installation of turbine components.
  • Must be able to read and interpret basic schematics and technical data.
  • Must be able to read and understand turbine technical manuals.
  • Must be knowledgeable on protection devices, control devices, power supplies, loads, conductors, transducers, Ethernet communications, error codes and parameter configurations.

Stand, climb, use hands to fingers, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear.

The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Able to work at heights, including climbing up and descending towers, entering nacelles and hubs at extreme heights.
  • Able to work in a mechanical environment. This may have been achieved through formal training, previous work experience as an auto mechanic or the ability to demonstrate that an individual is mechanically inclined.
  • Able to operate company vehicles (field trucks) both on site as well as on public roads and highways. Must have a current drivers license with a good DMV printout.
  • Demonstrate good work habits, including but not limited to attendance, and maintaining a neat and orderly work environment.
