Performs various security related duties to ensure the safety of hospital patients, visitors and staff. Responds to all incidents of disruptive/assaultive individuals, investigates reports of suspicious activity and performs customer service functions as described by policy/procedures. Armed Security Officers will perform facility and grounds patrols and inspections. Officers will report their daily activities in a log and/or incident reports; and conduct other duties assigned by the Security Supervisor. Minimum Job Qualifications include a valid GA Drivers License and current BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire, High School Diploma or GED, and a minimum of two (2) years experience in military, police, corrections, or private security. The role requires skills such as working well with others, adaptability, effective computer skills, knowledge of laws and facility policies, and various trainings including de-escalation, tactical baton, firearms, defensive tactics, and taser training. Responsibilities include patrolling, investigating incidents, participating in training drills, maintaining weapons, assisting newer officers, responding to requests for assistance, negotiating with hospital publics, handling funds and valuables, performing emergency procedures, using equipment correctly, monitoring CCTV, interviewing individuals, and maintaining professionalism under extreme conditions. Physical demands include lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs frequently, constant standing/walking, and other physical activities.
