Job Description

This role is for a Cardiac Surgical Technologist in a Level 1 Trauma Center with a busy surgical schedule encompassing various specialties, including cardiac surgery (CABG, TAVRS, valve surgeries, VADs, Impella insertion, ECMO), transplants, and the use of da Vinci robots. The technologist will be responsible for scrubbing and circulating during surgical procedures. A minimum of two years of OR experience is required, with cardiac experience being mandatory.

Responsibilities:

- Scrubbing and circulating during surgical procedures across various specialties (orthopedics, general surgery, plastics, urology, cardiac, neuro, vascular, ophthalmic, GYN, ENT, thoracic, oral-maxillofacial, and trauma).
- Assisting with procedures involving da Vinci robots.
- Participating in transplant procedures (liver, kidney, heart).
- Maintaining a sterile surgical field.
- Preparing surgical instruments and equipment.
- Assisting the surgical team with patient care.
- Adhering to all safety protocols and infection control measures.

Required Skills & Certifications:

- Active Surgical Technologist license in New York State.
- Minimum of two years of OR experience.
- Cardiac surgical experience (CABG, TAVRS, valve surgeries, VADs, Impella insertion, ECMO).
- American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Ability to scrub and circulate.
- Experience in a Level 1 trauma center preferred.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- Transplant experience.

Special Considerations:

- 12-hour rotating shifts (day, evening, night).
- Every other weekend (EOW) and holiday coverage.
- On-call, callback, and charge responsibilities per unit needs.

Scheduling:

- 12-hour shifts, rotating between day, evening, and night shifts.
- Every other weekend and holiday rotation.
- On-call, callback, and charge responsibilities as needed.
