RE: SOLICITATION FOR AN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

THE VILLAGE OF HEMPSTEAD HOUSING AUTHORITY (hereinafter also known as
the "VHHA") is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Executive Director. The
Executive Director is responsible for the administration and leadership in carrying out the
VHHA mission of providing decent, safe and affordable housing in the Hempstead Community.
Currently, the Village of Hempstead Housing Authority manages 281 subsidized units.
In addition, VHHA administers and manages approximately 475 Tenant-based Housing Choice
Vouchers.
The position of Executive Director offers the opportunity to a qualified individual to
direct and manage a substantial housing Agency. The Director must be able to maintain good
tenant and community relations, be responsible for the selection, training, supervision and
management of personnel including discipline and termination.
The Director must report directly to the Board of Commissioners. The selected applicant for this
position is required to have practical and working knowledge of federal housing regulations and
higher-level experience in the areas of administration and management of a Public Housing
Authority or related housing organizations. Public Housing Management and LIHTC
certification from a HUD approved organization is preferred or must be obtained within one (1)
year.
Minimum requirements include a Master's Degree in Public or Business Administration
and four (4) years of full-time paid managerial experience in housing or property management,
community development, public administration or a closely related field, or a Bachelor's Degree
in Public or Business Administration and six (6) years of experience as described above, or an
Associate's Degree in Public or Business Administration and eight (8) years of experience as
described above, or a High School Diploma or GED and ten (10) years of experience as described
above.
SALARY WILL BE OFFERED COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE AND
EDUCATION CREDENTIALS.
