Job Purpose:

 

To contribute to the development of functioning prototypes that will eventually become production ATV/SxS vehicles, researching and applying new technologies to support business targets and maintaining global vehicle product quality

 


Key Accountabilities

 

  • Develop, provide guidance or oversight to others to develop complex component and system layouts for ATV/SxS prototype vehicles using computer-aided design software that achieve concept targets, function requirements, and manufacturing requisites without supervision. Communicate specification requirements and manufacturing control points via prototype and production drawings that result in setting the final specifications of global ATV & SxS new models and mass production vehicles. Maintain accurate technical, development, and administrative documentation as required. Delegate work appropriately

 

  • Establish or lead others to establish cost targets for responsible parts that contribute to achievement of the vehicle development targets and achieve the cost targets through optimizing difficult part/system designs and offsetting any spec changes after target fix through implementation of additional cost reduction ideas and strategies

 

  • Create and manage schedule of individual work or other’s work to ensure deadlines are met, coordinate resource needs with supervisor, and effectively utilize contractor resources or groups of associates without supervision. Consistently communicate project status and share expertise and insight in project meetings, discussions, and development events. Substitute for Team Head or Design Technical Expert as needed to minimize disruptions to daily operations

 

  • Set goals for generating advanced ideas and lead the creation of comprehensive strategies that support the evolution of new technologies. Lead maturation of ideas to prepare for development applications without supervision

 

  • Support or lead market quality themes without supervision. Utilize problem-solving methods to analyze root causes. Develop and implement C/M specs as necessary without supervision. Lead recurrence prevention when appropriate.

 

  • Mentor others in areas of basic engineering principles, philosophy, best working practices, and company policy through example and other means necessary to penetrate the organization to reach appropriate technical levels.

 


Qualifications, Experience, and Skill:

 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field
  • 10+ years of engineering experience, preferably in Powersports or Automotive field
  • Highly proficient in understanding and application of company philosophy, policies
  • Highly proficient in written and oral communication
  • Highly proficient in problem-solving methods
  • Highly proficient in creating a plan and schedule
  • Highly proficient understanding of development project cycles
  • Highly proficient analytical, problem-solving, judgment, decision-making, and prioritization
  • Highly proficient time management skills
  • Must be able to possess a high level of confidentiality

 


Working Conditions:

 

Travel: Average of 1-3 times monthly. Amount varies based on project demands/responsibilities, conferences, etc.;
includes possible overseas travel.
Physical: Primarily works at a desk or scope; frequent keyboarding. Limited kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching or bending.
Hazards: Risks found in a typical office & shop setting. May be exposed to explosives/flammables, pressurized equipment, toxic chemicals, and moving parts.
Overtime: Overtime expected based on project demands/responsibilities.
Maintains professional conduct and follows all departmental, safety department, and company policies, procedures, and rules.
